Olympic medalist trio set for Boston indoor 3,000m

Rio Olympic 5,000-meter medalists Paul Chelimo of the United States and Hagos Gebrhiwet of Ethiopia will be challenged by US 800m medalist Clayton Murphy at 3,000m in the Boston Indoor Grand Prix, organizers announced. The latest entrants to the January 28 meet, the opening event of the five-meet IAAF World Indoor Tour, join reigning Olympic and world indoor 1,500m champion Matthew Centrowitz, reigning Olympic women's pole vault champion Ekaterini Stefanidi of Greece and 2012 London Olympic pole vault champion and world indoor record holder Jenn Suhr of the US in the field. Murphy took Rio 800m bronze in 1min 42.93 secs but will make the jump in distance to test 5,000m Rio runner-up Chelimo and bronze medalist Gebrhiwet, whose 3000m indoor best of 7:32.87 is the meet record and fastest time ever run in North America.
