Another gold for SA juniors

Carel Haasbroek carried the national flag on Saturday, as the lone South African athlete to step on the podium on Day Three of the CAA African Junior Championships in Tlemcen, Algeria.

Producing a best heave of 68.91m, Haasbroek earned the gold medal in the Men's Hammer Throw, more than nine metres clear of Algerian athlete Sid Ali Aboudi (59.65m) who finished second.

The South African team has now secured a total of 11 medals (seven gold, three silver and one bronze) at the four-day continental showpiece, which is set to come to a close on Sunday.
